Foods for Moods: A Nutritional Approach to Mental Health. How can we give our bodies what they need, so they give us the vitality, vibrancy and peace of mind that we long for? Tasty foods provide a foundation. Three case histories will illustrate how specific nutrients can benefit those with mental health challenges. We will discuss how to assess and discover the steps and habits most beneficial for an individual’s health recovery. We will talk about raising healthy eaters, support for the transitions of adolescence, some simple and some delicious steps you can take.
Feb 26th 2017 at Rainbow Remedies 2-3:30 Nourish our Spirits, Nourish our Cells. Find a sense of grounded peace and strength with a well-nourished body and mind. We will explore simple daily habits to sweeten our thoughts, to foster moments of clarity, intention, and reflection. Perhaps a brief meditation, a writing practice, or envisioning and “tapping in” your tribe of support will provide a gentle guide towards the wisdom residing in our hearts. Then to Nourish our Cells: while dipping chips into three zesty ferments: kiwi salsa, ginger carrots and a turmeric, ginger, carrot ferment, we'll inquire about the science and ancestral roots of these tasty foods. We’ll explore how a healthy bowel flora provides a foundation for mental and physical health. “Bowel flora ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!” The class will include recipes for these three tasty Krauts, Handouts for Tapping In, and a certificate for a half hour health consultation with Judith. $20

Class I – Tuesday, March 8th Identify personal hopes and goals for this workshop. How can the foods we eat bring greater calmness and relief from anxiety? What role do healthy fats play in our diet?
Class II- Tuesday, March 15th What is a pro-recovery diet and how does it support emotional health? How can ancestral diets guide our food choices? We will look at the history and science of mental health and mood.
Class III – Tuesday, March 15th What are Super Foods? What is the key role they play in supporting mental health and wellness? Do you know the important role zinc plays in your overall health? Take a zinc test to learn if your body may be deficient in this important mineral.
Class IV – Tuesday, March 22nd These days we hear a lot about probiotics. In this class we will explore foods that support healthy gut flora and promote optimal digestion and learn why this impacts our mental health and wellness.
